Setting up
- 1. Plug the module in and switch it on before opening the score. Most modules are class-compliant and need no driver; if yours shipped with one for your operating system, install it first.
- 2. On the practice card, set Input to MIDI (e-kit). The browser asks once whether the site may use MIDI devices; allow it. Nothing asks until you choose MIDI, so a page load never prompts.
- 3. With one input connected it is selected for you; with more than one, a port dropdown appears. No MIDI input found means the browser cannot see the module: check the cable, that the module is on, and that no other application has the port exclusively.
- 4. Hit a pad. The activity strip lights the drum it mapped to. If every pad you hit lights the right drum, you are done; press Start take.
If a pad lights the wrong drum, teach the kit map under Practise, then Setup: Learn kit map prompts for the eleven drums in turn and remembers the answer for this module on this device.
Questions
- Does the Crimson II work with Groove IO?
- Yes. Alesis states the Crimson II module sends MIDI over USB, and it also has a 5-pin MIDI OUT for a USB-MIDI cable. Choose MIDI (e-kit) on the practice card and every hit arrives with the drum and how hard.
- Do I need a driver?
- Class-compliant: no driver needed for MIDI. Groove IO needs only MIDI, in Chrome, Edge or Firefox.
- Which plan?
- Every plan gets three scored takes a week and Pro has no limit; MIDI download and import are on every plan.
